The Friends and Family Test

If you visit our GP surgery you will be asked about whether or not you would recommend our surgery to your family and friends, if they need similar treatment or care. The NHS Friends and Family Test is a quick and simple way of collecting patient feedback to improve services. When you visit our GP surgery for care or treatment, you will be given the opportunity to give your feedback by answering a simple question about your experience:

“How likely are you to recommend our GP practice to friends and family if they need similar care or treatment?”

You will be asked to choose one of six options, ranging from 'extremely likely' to 'extremely unlikely'. If you are unable to answer the question, a friend or family member is welcome to respond on your behalf. You are also able to give your feedback via our website by selecting the patient survey box below.

As part of the commitment to more personalised care for patients, NHS Employers and the General Practitioners Committee of the British Medical Association have agreed that all patients will have a named accountable GP.

The ‘named’ GP will: -

  • Take lead responsibility for ensuring that all appropriate services required under the contract with the practice are delivered to you
  • Where required, based on the professional judgement of the ‘named’ GP, work with relevant associated health and social care professionals to deliver a multidisciplinary care package that meets your needs
  • Ensure that your physical and psychological needs are recognised and responded to by the relevant clinicians in the practice
  • Ensure that patients over 75 years of age have access to a health check if requested, which is already a requirement of the GP contract regulations.

Wessex Road Surgery will ensure that there is a named accountable GP assigned to each patient. New patients will be allocated a GP at the time of registration. Your named accountable GP will be the same as your registered GP however this does not affect your ability to see any GP of your choice as you currently do, if you have a preference as to which GP is your named GP, please let us know and we will try to accommodate your request.

Sharing Medical Records

We share your medical records with other services treating you. For full details, please see our patient leaflet "Sharing your medical information" on our website - Privacy Statement for GP Practice
